upgrading membership

I have been an ordinary member since Feb this year and would like to upgrade to premium, but two basic questions:-

1/ I am in the UK, so how am I charged $ 30 In other words what is the conversion and how is it calculated?

2/There does not seem to be any security on the payment site so how can I be confident of not being open to fraud?

I use paypal for the payment. I don't know about exchange rates.

According to http://www.google.com/landing/searchtips/#currencyconversion, $30 USD = 20 Euros or 18.06 British Pounds(not sure what currency you use.)

I've just renewed my membership. Used Credit Card.

 

Exchange rate at 1.53 = £19.54

 

Varies a little depending on card issuer, but it's only pence difference.

I think $ 30 USD works out to a little over 18 GBP...peanuts really... I use a reloadable $ 100 Visa credit card for my online purchases... That way if the card was ever compromised I won't be out a lot...I have used it to upgrade to premium membership and also to buy swag from various websites listed on geocaching.com and have had no problems or difficulties...If I have anything left on them after I have done my online shopping, I just use them on my next local store, pub or resturant purchase... Having said all that, I live in Canada and have absolutely no idea if those same relodable credit cards or gift "credit cards" are available in the UK...Oh yeah BTW, there is a small service fee on activation but I think its a small price to pay for credit card security...

It's not quite as exciting as it used to be.

 

A quid is slang for a pound. 100 pence to the pound.

 

For pre-decimal (which you're likely reading about) it's 12 pence to the shilling, 20 shillings to the pound. And there's a whole bunch of other coins, which for the death of me I can't remember. Read the wikipedia articles.
