wwjd7
I just got an Oregon 300 and still familiarizing myself with it. Fantastic unit, what a change from my HCx. I’m puzzled over one thing though. I’ve seen occasional mention in the forums that they can upload 2000 waypoints to it. According to any of the specs I see, its upper limit is 1000 waypoints, not 2000. Is the spec incorrect and can it really can hold 2000? I have software version 3.20 and GPS software version 3.70. 2000 would be great, but if the upper limit is 1000, I don’t want to upload say, 1050, then get out into the field and find out some are missing. +splashy
It's the misunderstanding between waypoints and poi's A poi file can hold 10 thousands of waypoints, where a plain waypointfile can hold 1000 on a Oregon. Edited October 20, 2009 by splashy Quote Link to comment
+twolpert
1000 waypoints plus 2000 geocaches (5000 geocaches on the 550). Not sure about a POI limit. http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Geocaching#toc4 Quote Link to comment

+JetSkier
geocaches: 2000 or 200 gpx files, whichever comes first. JetSkier Quote Link to comment
wwjd7
Thanks for the responses, they really helped. The Oregon manual doesn't differentiate bewteen waypoints and geocaches (I might have missed that page) so that's what mislead me. If only the wikispaces page was in the manual, that would help new Oregon users a lot. Quote Link to comment
