When I hide a cache and write up the description, I can only do simple font. I have seen many caches though in which the descriptions have multi colors and very creative fonts, pictures etc. How is this done?

Check the box for The descriptions below are in HTML and add the appropriate HTML tags in your Short and Long Description.

Here is an example of simple coding for my "We'll Keep The Lights On" cache (GC1XWNT):

Lighthouse</font><br />

that a green beacon should not have a red day mark.</center>

Looks like a good spot for a cache. I'll be in Monterey next weekend but won't have a car or I might go look for it. I've been to that spot many times before. A little over 30 years ago I ran the sound system for a band (out of Los Gatos) that used to play at a club at that harbor on Wednesday nights.

i don't want cache pages to be memorable.

i want them to take standard form with standard fonts. what makes them stand out for me is when the CO takes the trouble to proofread it for grammar, spelling, and correctness of the information contained therein.

a no-nonsense cache page that takes me to a memorable cache is WAY better than lots of useless junk on the listing.

I hope you have a good trip to Monterey. I was just down there this past weekend - it's beautiful!

I am one who enjoys putting together a nice cache page with lots of HTML. It was brought to my attention though that the program I was using used a lot of table tags which caused the caches not to be viewable on the Colorado and Oregon. I have since removed these table tags but kept the rest of the HTML. Here are two of my favorites:

#GC1J5MA Beware of Dogs!!

#GC1NBJ9 An Obnoxious Cache

If you enjoy putting together an entertaining page then by all means do it. The important info will still be visible with a little extra work for the paperless cacher.

Some of us are downloading the cache description into the gps and have to scroll through dozens of useless html markup.

As part of my paperless process, to strip out the html I "print" the listing using a text-only print driver and output that to a file, which is posted on the internet. If necessary, i will access the description from the field via my cellphone. Rarely, I will travel outside the digital network and will save the files into my phone before leaving.

Because it is easily circumnavigated, I have no problem putting HTML in my cache descriptions to spice them up.
