GC friendly DeLorme maps

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

Thought I'd post here first. Has anyone found a caching version of the DeLorme maps for mid-west states, particularly Kansas? We're getting close to finishing the KS DeLorme challenge and are looking for something that generates a map of completed pages. We're doing it by hand now in a spreadsheet, but wondering if there was something more automated, like the itsnotaboutthenumbers county maps?? Cheers!

GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) has a macro that will do this for many states that have the challenge set up. It will set up a column in your database with the page number of the Delorme Atlas and also will open up a Google Earth image of the Delorme pages and the caches you've found on those pages. If you tell it to, it will also run the macro on caches you haven't found, which makes planning easier.

Good luck on finishing the challenge--that's quite a feat! :D

I should also mention, if you check out my profile on geocaching.com, I have a jpg image of the map that GSAK generates using that macro for the pages I've completed in North Dakota. I use ESRI's ArcGIS Explorer rather than Google Earth, but I imagine it produces the same thing.

Thanks Honeybee, I guess the question is, does GSAK have the KS DeLorme challenge map set up? I know this makes me sound somewhat like a heretic around these forums, but I've been trying to avoid GSAK (for no particular reason) but having this map-generating capacity may make me make the jump.

Thanks again!

It appears the latest version of the macro does contain Kansas. If you go to the GSAK website (gsak.net), go to Macros and scroll down to the "Challenge" macro by hynr. Of course you will have to install GSAK first (duh!).
