ioimike
I know that you have to enter things mannuelly on the Magellan Explorist 300, but I was surfing the net and cam across a data cable. Was wondering if anyone has used this cable for any Magellan Explorist 100,200.300? If so do I need any additional software or can I just down load the way points for the website? +geognerd
I'd recommend against getting the DIY data cable for the eXplorist 100/200/300. You would be better off saving your money and buying a unit that was designed to interface with a computer. These eXplorist models were not intended to be used with a computer, hence they lack any official software support. Quote Link to comment
+Udderly
Hey, I used a data cable I purchased from the internet, with GSAK, and it worked pretty well. Until my 300 started dumping all the cache data on the way to caches, ugh! I used the cable again with a Explorist 100, I bought for cheap at an auction during one of our local events, and keep it as my backup unit. The joy stick is hard to operate though, so I'm thankful I don't have to use it very often. My primary unit is a Garmin 60Cx, which was made to use with a cable, and I am very happy with it. It's at least twice the price of the 300, but in this case, I think you really do get what you pay for. I've used my 60Cx all over the world with reliable results. I had one failure within the first year warranty period, and the unit was replaced for the cost of shipping. In any case, good luck. Quote Link to comment
+jeffbouldin
The Explorist 100, 200, and 300 are not computer up/downloadable. Only the 210, 400, 500, 600, and XL. Quote Link to comment
