jrknight45
Sounds very much like the trip we made in August - you'll love it! I'd recommend: For Whom the Bell Tolls - a beautiful spot near Cromarty River Ness - Greig Street Foot Bridge - a nice cache and dash if you're walking around Inverness Sutherlands Grove west coast kippers - these two are in a lovely woodland park with a stunning waterfall Rocky views - a great coastal cache Dunnet Head (Caithness) - has to be done, the most Northerly point of Mainland Britain West is Best (Ardnamurchan Point) - and the most Westerly point! Etive View Fungi Tree - these two are in what I considered the most beautiful glen near Fort William - mind the midges near the Fungi Tree though!! +Bear and Ragged
Sutherlands Grove west coast kippers - these two are in a lovely woodland park with a stunning waterfall -Yes West is Best (Ardnamurchan Point) - and the most Westerly point! -On the mainland -Yes Etive View - Might as well do 70 Wild Miles Glencoe Cache while in the area! If you do West is Best, look out for Lochan Rocky Overhang with a Silver Twist If it's still there it is a nice area. (And makes a nice rest before after the loooong drive to West is Best!) +The Blorenges
Can't recommend it personally, but this is one on our Watchlist and it looks fun. You have to wade/swim/or paddle across to a castle on a small island. It's only had two Finds so far... Caisteal na Nighinn Ruaide MrsB Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
I believe my West Is Best cache is back to A1 condition thanks to some help. If you get a chance, get over to Skye and do bellewether's excellent 'Find Him a Wife' cache. I've a couple of caches in the area, including The Wicker Man - A missing child is always trouble near the pretty village of Plockton and Highlander's Home (Eilean Donan Castle). Both seem popular. I also have The road to Applecross near by, which is a bit alpine but gives amazing views on a clear day. Have a look at my Film Locations bookmark list (link below) if you're into those, as there are lots in the area you're travelling. Tourist advice: John o'Groats is a depressing spot, but the caches in the area are worth a look. GC13R6F, GCBC2A and GCJ2YJ especially. My west-coast favourites include GCPNZJ and GCRXF2 (a quick boat ride and a walk from Skye) - Have a great trip! Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Simply Paul is blowing his own trumpet. To help him, yes, they are excellent caches. Did 'a few' of them to mark 500 caches, whilst I was 'in the area' back in Sept '07! Have done the road to Applecross a couple of times -in pre-caching days... It's an experience. Especially if the mist comes down! Quote Link to comment
