:) I'm a newbie who needs help figuring out a wooden coin that I found in a cache yesterday. It wasn't mentioned on the cache inventory, and I went to the geocaching.cz site referenced on the coin, but it was all in Czech, so I didn't get far there. Is this a traveling trackable coin? It says aleX.volvoX, but no other numbers. Maybe it is just someone's calling card that can now be collected or moved. If it is trackable, I'd like to let the owner know that it is still out here. Can anyone help? You guys seem to be the resident experts from what I can see!

The Czech Wooden Coins are signature items of the czech cachers. They leave them in caches, they have found, for the next finder.

If you found one, it's yours to keep. Congrats

Dark elf is right my friend!

These lovely and thick wooden coins are actually wooden nickels! They are signature items that many Czech and slovak geocachers are making! There is a site that shows all these coins, so you can see them! They are not trackable, and even if they are called coins, they are not! :)

These pieces are high collectable between czech geocachers! I was lucky and I found one here in Rhodes too! They are lovely!!!

Something else that is high collectable in Czech republic are the big wood medals from touristic or beautiful places of the country!

It is a kind or a souvenir of the place and it is an advertisment of the place too!

Of course, these wooden medals are not geocaching related but sometimes geocachers leave these in caches too!

I found one of them in a cache here in Rhodes too!! They are lovely!!!

So, congratulations my friend, this coin is yours to keep! ;)

would it be possible to upload a picture of the item so we can all see it here, too?! :)

You gotta admit, OV, that uploading a pic to the Forums is a lot tougher than figuring out if a wooden nickel is trackable or not. Now there's a topic for Eartha's toolkit - how to upload pics with maybe a couple of pointers on best resolutions and sizes for the screen. huh? huh?

i have been coming to the forums, on and off, for about 3 years now, and only just recently figured out how to post pictures and how to use the private messager here (thanks to ladybee4t)...lol...it seems there's always something new to learn about computers and geocoins! :)

WOW, what a fantastic treat to look at!! Thank you for the link!!

It looks like instead of being printed, or laser burned, these are burned with a Die!! I like that, it's how I thought of making my own.
