Darkdude101 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 i have noticed that alot of my muggle friends are accessing the site and stealing caches and items . i think that if grounspeak changed it so that muggles can only access the home page(and maybe the forums page) it would be better for the rest of us .
+StarBrand Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 You have to be registered and logged in to see the coordinates for a cache as things stand right now. You know 100% for sure your friends are stealing caches?? I think something could be done with just that much information.
OpinioNate Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I'm sorry your friends are so immature, but logging in to view coordinates is the most we can do to discourage this kind of griefing. What else is there?
+BlueDeuce Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) If you create an account to go out and find caches, even just to steal it, you aren't a muggle. Edited September 15, 2009 by BlueDeuce

Unfortunately, you created the GeoMate Jr. workaround. Providing information to find caches does not give some sort of advantage. Even people from the dark side have to search for a cache to destroy it. Maybe you think that making a cache Premium Members Only will prevent it from being muggled? I think we should determine why the OP think his muggle friends are accessing the site and stealing caches before accusing gc.com of selling the store. Edited September 15, 2009 by BlueDeuce
AZcachemeister Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Whether a Geomate was used or not, they sold the farm out from under us.
+the_bell_dingers Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) sorry... there is not much Groundspeak can do about that... Edited September 17, 2009 by the_bell_dingers
+E = Mc2 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Simple solution, really. You become a premium member, then set your caches to 'Members' Only'. Your 'friends' would then have to pay to see the coordinates to the caches AND you can see who is looking at your cache pages... True example: A couple of local cachers had a disagreement with someone about Earthcaches. Shortly thereafter, someone then went and destroyed all of their caches (and only their caches) in a local park, hiking in excess of 10 miles to do so. They put out replacement caches in the park and someone went out and destroyed them again except for the one that they urinated in. Since making the caches members' only, they haven't had any more problems. Just a suggestion, and it helps support the website!
+mfamilee Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 i have noticed that alot of my muggle friends are accessing the site and stealing caches and items Umm... time to make new friends maybe?
+wandrlust Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Really. If those are your friends, I think you have bigger problems to worry about.
