The preliminary draft of our event is done...just have to confirm the venue. This could be a tough one on Thanksgiving Sunday but geocachers always surprise me...! lol!

Update.

 

I got a good quote, and Etada has graciously volunteered to provide the coin, quote and schedule information for ordering the coins. I will be tweaking the design today and tomorrow (providing a color sample) and a 'color by number' black and white pic for people to download and noodle. I am confirming that we will each get individualized artwork to approve since that was a gripe last time around.

 

Can someone please start compiling a list of potential event hosts here, add your name to the list below, this is not binding.

Yes, we'll do mint art for each version. :) There will be a 100 mile restriction on coins to avoid having two coin in the same area. I will review any possible amendments to this rule... such as being 50 miles apart geographically, but 200 miles around a lake or country and state borders... preference will be given to people who have participated in previous X X X multi events.

I guess I have to ask the big question...how much would a coin person have to put up front to be able to do these. I know there has to be upfront costs here.

 

That'll be the big issue for me. That and not being sure I'd be able to sell enough on site to make said cost back.

 

I'm not real familiar about making/buying coins. Even though I do have an idea I want to do...

The Space Coast Geocachers would love to be involved again. This will be our third year and fourth combined event coin. We have always been happy with the coin and the process. Thanks for setting this up again. So put us down for Merritt Island, FL so you have a point of referrence.

I don't recognize the other portugal cacher names at all. And since you've done an event group coin before, well then I'd say you have first dibs based on the above statement, but avroair would have to verify that.

 

Plus, you know locations always drop out when the people realize they have to prepay $600-$700+ for the coins.

We where in the 10 years geocoins multi-event under the name Fraldinhas, we ordered 150 geocoins ;o)

 

but i think avroair will take the right decision :laughing: and our 10-10-10 event will be published real soon :laughing:

Correct me if I am wrong but the restrictions on events are for those wanting to get in on the making of the coin right? Not just anyone wanting to host an event. We are both hosting an event as well as wanting to get in on the making of the coin. We have done the last three group coin projects and looking forward to this one as well.

The restriction is on having your own unique coin version, not from hosting a 10-10-10 event.

 

From the list, it looks like you are Space Coast Geocachers are already on the geocoin list for your area of Florida.

Where do we go for the color info? I want to use the same colors as last year but not sure where we can add colors.

I'll be spending $700 on these coins. On my last event I spent about $400 on gifts and prizes for attendees. I would not be able to do that if these coins don't sell out.

 

It is a risk that I will get stuck with coins, if another event that close to ours has basically the same coin.

 

My group has been the ones taking this risk for not only the 10 year event, but also the 999 and 888 event.

I will be hosting an event, but I won't buy coins if there is another event in DFW that is allowed to buy in.

 

Pardon me for saying so, but isn't that rather selfish?

 

I'll be spending $700 on these coins. On my last event I spent about $400 on gifts and prizes for attendees. I would not be able to do that if these coins don't sell out.

 

It is a risk that I will get stuck with coins, if another event that close to ours has basically the same coin.

 

My group has been the ones taking this risk for not only the 10 year event, but also the 999 and 888 event.

 

I agree completely. If another event was to pop up in the Detroit area and wanted to get in on the coins I would have to think very long and hard if I wanted to risk $$$$ that both events would sell all their coins.

And you pretty much need to sell out to break even or make a couple of bucks to help fund the next event coins.
