Which gps stores .gpx files on SD card

You can put .gpx on an Explorist or a Vista HCX in much the same way you can put Quicktime Movies, MP3s, or Autocad files - just don't expect those units to *understand* GPX files thusly written.

Colorado, Dakota, Oregon, and certain members of the Lowrance (Endura?) lines understand GPX well enough to grok a pocket query dropped into them.

I can vouch for the Garmin Oregon 400t. We have 2 we use for geocaching. Acording to Garmin tech support (not me) you can store/download gpx files to cards but you can not open them on the unit. GPX files are not accessable for the unit to read off the card.

You can read GPX FROM the SD with a X00 models Oregon

You cannot with a 550 Oregon

All of the Garmin 60, 76, and eTrex series which use a microSD card have the option of saving the track log to the card as a .gpx file. That file can only be used by off-loading it to a computer, it is not viewable on the receiver.

A year ago I had to wipe my hard drive with minimal opportunity to back it up. I thought I had lost a ton of tracks, only to realize later that two years worth were on the card in my 60CSx! I greatly appreciate this feature now.
