Anyone interested in a "wormhole cache"?

Recommended Posts

I am from Sale, Victoria, Australia and I would like to know if anyone would like to join me in setting up a "Wormhole Cache".

I have plans for a specific cache that is not up and running yet.

PM me if you are interested.

Stuart

Wormhole = TB Prison with the condition that you will be transporting any bugs from here long distances

Why would you be posting this in the Canada thread? Is a worm hole cache some kind of cache that you would place in Austrailia then send the the stuff to Canada somehow?

I think we have one in Canada already. It's in ON and we got a trackable to Germany in a big leap. It certainly had no resemblance to a prison by any means.

I got a few PM resposes and noe of them have panned out.

A wormhole cache is where a TB is placed inside. The TB is then collected by the cahce owner (or delegate) and quickly sent by post - or any other rapid means to another cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...60-cdda545ed1c3

It is similar to a stargate cache but only has a netwok of 2 caches (if that can be a network.

I was hoping to get one set up between Australia and Canada.

It will take a littel commitment.

Does it have to be a new cache, or can we use a pre-existing one and modify the cache page description?

Also, wouldn't the postage add up in a hurry?

Postage will add up, but it depends on how often we choose to correspond - weekly or fortnightly.

I won't be posting anything that's too heavy. I would also contact the owners of any TBs that might enter the cache to make sure that they are happy with the overseas trip.

For me to send a letter to Canada between 125g & 250g is A$6.30.

A parcel up to 250g is A$9.30. If you can squash the TB fairly flat you can save $3.00.

Not sure about postage from your end.

The cache age doesn't really matter to me. A new cache tends to attract a lot of activity before things settle down so the mail might be fairly busy to start with.

There is a little bit of a commitment (financial and time) required so you might ask why? I'm looking for something a little different.

We own a cache right here at work, where I drop my picked up TB's all the time. However, the cost for mailing even every two weeks is just a bit high. Sorry, I do hope this does work out, it seems like a great idea.

I'm in Queens, New York and have a cache, alien invasion (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=d20d3a09-8b6d-4339-824d-ae3775d9972b) only a few blocks from my house. If you can't get anyone in Canada to do this I'd be willing to give it a try. Personally, I think sending items every month might be a little more manageable. Also if anyone else thinks this would be an interesting idea and would like to setup a wormhole partnership please let me know.

Sounds like a plan. Not much interest here. I'll be in touch.

Stu.
