Satmap Active10

I have recently purchased (in the UK) a Satmap Active 10 GPS ostensibly as an aid to our joy of walking as it has the option of loading 1:25000 OS maps. Recently, we were drawn into the world of geocaching and the active 10 has been very useful, as we can download caches from geocache.com and use the paperless features.

We have just attended the Mega event in Weston-super-Mare, where their was a lecture on "Wherigo" which I would like to participate in. However, the device that it favours is the Garmin Oregon. I have seen from the forums that other GPS devices can accept the cartridge but no mention of the Satmap Active 10.

Does anyone know whether it can be used and are there any operational problems?? :)

unless you can somehow load new applications on the Satmap, then no, it won't work with Wherigo.

you need either built-in support, which is (so far) only on Garmin Colorado, Oregon (and some models of Nüvi), or some kind of standardized operating system - either Windows Mobile (for the official PocketPC player), or something that can load Java Mobile (e.g. symbian, android, blackberry os) for the unofficial OpenWIG.

if you could connect the device to a PDA or smartphone and make it act as dongle gps, you might be able to run Wherigo on that PDA/smartphone
