yogazoo
I noticed a problem with my Oregon this past weekend and it was bad enough that Garmin has accepted it for a replacement. The issue occurred when I was holding the unit, firmly grasping the sides. When I did this while looking at the Sat screen I noticed that all of my bars went away. As soon as I released the grip the bars shot back up again after a second to recover. Now the pressure was firm but not unnatural for me to hold it this way while doing something else with the other hand or simply holding it firmly to avoid dropping. Test, take your Oregon and hold it in your palm naturally. Firmly squeeze the sides (approximately in the middle) while looking at the Sat screen. Does your acquisition change? What I want to know is one of three things 1) Is it acceptable to live with? 2) is it a design flaw? 3) is it just my unit that it happened to? Thanks in advance to those who test this.
