Found Soggy Log... Enter twice? (Needs Maintenance & Found it?)

I found a cache today whose log book was soaked beyond repair. I logged it as a "Needs Maintenance" but I don't think the system counts it as a "find". Should I enter a "Found it" log entry right after that?

Yes, NM's don't count for a smiley.

Yes, you should. Good question, we found a cache in the same condition, and were barely able to sign the log. We posted a NM as well as the found it.

I carry a maintenance kit in my backpack and will replace wet logs that I find in caches or dry them out for the owner. Most owners really appreciate that.

I attempted to dry this particular one out, but was afraid of ruining it if I even attempted to unroll it. Plus the cache container may need to be swapped out if it's letting the log get that wet.

 

We're just starting out... I think a "maintenance kit" would be a good thing to carry in our geo-pack from now on, though.
