stephenwagner
I found an old historical topo map of Jones Point, NY. Dunderberg Mt. The map indicates an old AirWay Beacon at the top of Dunderberg Mt. I have hiked the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail here. I have also found the old airplane wreck in the area. Where can I find additional information regarding this Navigational Airway Beacon. +Holtie22
Stephen, Although many of these airway beacons were located by NGS and included in the database, apparently the one near Jones Point was not. See the list of airway beacon PIDs on Zhanna's Website Quote Link to comment
+Holtie22
OK, so disregard that last post. Turns out it is in the NGS database and on GC right here. Quote Link to comment

+Harry Dolphin
And, unfortunately, like so many airway beacons from the 30's, it appears to be missing. Quote Link to comment
NGS Surveyor
Airway beacons would also have been on the aeronautical charts - also made by the USC&GS. GeorgeL NGS Quote Link to comment

stephenwagner
NGS, Holti, Harry, Scooter, Thanks for your support with this benchmark / Airway Beacon. I found the data sheet provided. It is amazing that it is just located just feet from trail and no one has ever posted, commmented and or found remains. I am sure there is something there such as rust markings. Thanks for your help. kayakbird
Montana still has a few of the airway light beacons in operation. I have the L/L's for them that were provided by the Montana Aeronautics Bureau and would send them off list. They may or may not be at the same location as some of the PID's. I used the ones from Missoula to Helena on several dark and stormy nights. Mike Quote Link to comment
