Your vision of what a geocache should look like.

Recommended Posts

Just for fun, I would like to see what others visualize as a geocache location.

Please refrain from turning this thread into a debate about micros, LPCs, or lame caches.

Though caches in the kinds of places shown in this thread are nice, I don't think a cache has to be placed in some sort of breathtaking area. There are hundreds of thousands of excellent caches that don't bring you to a place of majestic beauty.

So I think a good geocache can also look like...

That's certainly true. It's just that I tend to only post photos of majestic beauty to my gallery. I didn't think about my Waymarking gallery, though -- I snap a lot more when I'm Waymarking. So here are a couple of less majestic locations I've liked:

Those are the kind of cache locations I really enjoy, ones with nice views in the middle of nowhere! It is true that there are some more urban caches that are just as fun, and that you don't really have to go very far to find a cache that gives you something neat to look at. I'll have to upload the pic I just took the other day, went out and found several caches out off of some logging roads, I think we covered about 30+ miles to find 7 caches, but they were all good times.

While I love the beautiful natural places, there is also a type of cache that I love but cannot be shown here. There are caches that are so well integrated into standing works of outdoor art that they become an artistic statement themselves. I've found a few like that. Obviously I cannot show a photo of any of these because that would be a spoiler. But I am registering my vote for perfectly integrated urban hides in places of outstanding beauty.

WOW! These pictures are amazing! We get alot of skirt lifters around here.... Why can't we find caches like this?

Well, you could grow yourself some mountains and forests and caves and dig yourself some sea coast to get that kind of terrain in Oklahoma.... It would probably be easier to download the coords to some of the caches listed here and just drive or fly there.

Give yourself some time. You haven't been caching all that long. Make a to do list and then check what's close when you're on a trip, or plan a vacation around finding some of the caches on your list. :D

I keep meaning to go farther south when I'm in Cali to catch some of Kit's caches, as I'm sure Kit means to head up 395 some day to catch a few of mine.

Well then, this thread might be helpful as well.....

It has locations like these in it which happen to be caches I own:

All the posts in this thread have been off-topic. The topic is "Your vision of what a geocache should look like." There has not been a single picture of a geocache posted. They all seem to be pictures of cool locations where you've found or hidden a geocache (or of purple dogs). As such they probably belong in Snoogans' thread. So for now I'll post a picture of my vision of what a geocache should look like.
