knowschad
I only have a car sat-nav is this still suitable ?...apologies if this is silly question... Suitable... no. Will it work? Some people manage. But you're really hammering a nail with a screwdriver. Quote Link to comment
+wkmccall
I only have a car sat-nav is this still suitable ?...apologies if this is silly question... I started with a car model - Garmin Quest II and it has a pedestrian mode / off-road mode so it worked great for starting out. Now I only use it to navigate me to the cache area and then use my 60csx to find the cache. If you unit has the off-road/pedestrian mode, it might work fine. If not, it will get you to the location, but once you start walking away from the road, it's going to want you to navigate back to the road. Hope you understood this because I got a little lost while trying to explain! Edited June 27, 2009 by wkmccall Quote Link to comment
+bartrod
Suitable... no. Will it work? Some people manage. But you're really hammering a nail with a screwdriver. A couple things to keep in mind if you try usng it...it's not very durable for trekking through the woods, it's not waterproof, and it has a very limited battery life when not plugged in. My recommendation is to invest in a good Garmin or Lowrance designed for caching. And welcome to the great adventure[] Quote Link to comment
