newbie and gps datum question

New to using a GPS and am having trouble finding my user guide.

I have a GARMIN 60csx which I bought in Australia.

I am travelling soon to the US for business. Will the datum automatically change, or do I need to

set something to change it so all will be right?

Datums don't change automagically. Choose WGS84 (World Geodetic System) for consistancy, as per geocaching requirements. It is only if you receive coordinates referencing another datum, or are using maps with your GPSr that are using another datum, when it becomes more important....otherwise stick to WGS84 even in Australia.
