Team MundS
Hello everybody, I am a Cacher from Germany, who will visit your nice country in two weeks My Visit will start in Vancouver and end there, too. But in this three weeks I will travel around and visit Victoria, Kamloops, Banff, Calgary, etc. Here in the North of Germany some Cachers climb on trees for some T5 caches and I am one of those. After some searching in the Internet I found out that IMHO Canada is the paradise for tree climbing, especially in prices for Arborist ropes So I like to buy a useful souvenir in Canada, for my hobby at home... Can you tell me some shops in Vancouver, Calgary or in between where I can get a XTC tree climbing rope or a equal one? That would be very nice! I am looking forward to visit your country and your caches! Especially the big number of Earth Caches! Thanks in advance for your help! Markus from Team MundS (Germany) Quote Link to comment
Red90
I'm not sure is mountain climbing ropes are the same. If so, then http://www.mec.ca/ They have stores in Vancouver and Calgary. Quote Link to comment
Team MundS
Thank you for your help! I´ve written them an email, maybe there is a chance to get such a rope... It is a special rope, but some mountain climbing shops do have such ropes. Perhaps somebody can tell me a special arborist shop?!? AND: Please excuse my bad english... I am out of practice Quote Link to comment

NerdFrog
I'm not an arborist, but a quick Google search led me to the above link. Here are a couple others: http://www.csinet.ca (Vancouver) http://www.canadianarboristsupplies.com (Calgary) The local arborist school trains in our park. If I run into them, I'll ask them for a referral. Say hello to "meine rothaarige aus Koln"! Quote Link to comment
Hippie Kidz
Hey Marcus, I am an arborist in Kamloops, BC. I buy my equipment at Sherill Tree, at http://www.sherrilltree.com/Professional-Gear/XTC_2 . They carry your XTC rope. They then ship it to BobCat Country in Abbotsford at http://www.bobcatcountry.com/ . You would be able to get your stuff on the way to Kamloops. Good luck! Brad. +Viajero Perdido
My guess is that arborist ropes need to be non-stretchy, like caving ropes. Climbing ropes are stretchy, and are what you'd find at outdoor stores like MEC. Quote Link to comment

Team MundS
Yes Arborist Ropes are not stretchy and they are much more thicker than normal climbing and static ropes. They have a sitze of 1/2 inches or 13mm. And the covering has another crown (?)... The Store from North Vancouver has written me an email and I think this shop I will visit then! Thank you very much for all of your help! Quote Link to comment
