+gearhedd
If you have old car/house seakers the magnets in them are strong. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Rare earth magnets from Lee Valley. Quote Link to comment
+Damin69
Well the best ones I have found so far are out of Old BAD Hard drives. These are some of the strongest magnets I have ever seen. Quote Link to comment
+goat13
Rare earth magnets from Lee Valley. I second that, a small 1/8 inch diameter can hold up to 5 pounds. They come in many sizes for 30 to 80 cents each. There's a few cache suppliers out there that buy them at Lee Valley and resell for much more. Quote Link to comment
knowschad
Actually, I recently discovered that Walmart is now carrying them (1/2" rare-earth magnets) in their craft section. Pack of 4 for somewhere around $3. Look for "Magnetic Neo - Buttons". PS: Tell 'em "The Geocachers" sent you. Edited May 28, 2009 by knowschad Quote Link to comment
+Chrysalides
I bought from an online company before, can't quite remember which one, but I think it is Applied Magnets (a.k.a. magnets4less). I bought a whole bunch of nickel coated and epoxy coated magnets. The 1/4" x 1/16" ones are the ones I find the most useful - strong enough, small enough, not ridiculously strong so that you can use two (or more) in case one drops off. The 3/4" x 1/8" ones are great for making fridge magnets if you have a twisted sense of humor. Edit : after further searching I think I got mine from Forcefield a.k.a. Wonder Magnets, but I checked and they don't seem to have the epoxy coated ones anymore. Edited May 28, 2009 by Chrysalides Quote Link to comment

+deercreekth
I bought some rare earth magnets from Harbor Freight Tools that were on sale for ~$1.20 for a 10 pack. I haven't had a chance to do anything with them yet. They also had the large 96 lb. pull magnets for $5. Quote Link to comment
