Geo Coins Logging mileage?

Looking for opinions, seems there's enough @#&%*@'s out there already. Do you think it is ok to log mileage on a geo-coin if you cannot find a cache or if it has been muggled?

To wit:

Seems silly to log a bug through a cache you never found. Not much you can do about it though.

I'd say it kinda depends on your reason(s) for doing so.

I have a personal coin that I (am working on) move (ing) through every cache site I visit, whether I find the cache or not. The intent is to tally-up ALL my geocaching miles, not just the miles between the caches I actually found.

It's not silly at all. Putting a coin in a cache you/it has been to is for the miles you've traveled. It has absolutely nothing to do with finding the cache.

Thinking that mileage means much of anything is silly too.
