+NorthWestWells Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have been trying to log on for a couple of hours and get "page not available"? Anyone know why or have an ETA on a fix? Thanks - NNWells
Skippermark Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 There's another thread about it. Has to do with the recent updates.
+NorthWestWells Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 There's another thread about it. Has to do with the recent updates. Thanks for the info - - - Best of luck to all who are trying to get this back up ASAP! It seems like the middle of the day is not the best time to trust microsoft with updates?
+gof1 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 It's the middle of the night someplace. They do it during the hours they are at work in the frog's hamster sweat shop.
+currykev Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I see that the time it takes to load pages on GC.com is still totally unacceptably long! ...and I pay for this???
+Schandmaul & Teufelsweib Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Is there anyone around who can tell the Community how long this slow or not accessible time of gc.com will take ? Thanks, Schandmaul
+jpamusher Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Glad to see it`s just not me that`s having slow times with the site. I managed to log some caches, but it took really long to do it. hope the issue is resolved soon!

Well this is really uncool as it is 1am and I'm trying to get my pklans for going caching today early in the morning. Seams I will use todays national holiday in germany to make my plans where to go. For me it is not the best decission to update the page just before geowoodstock in the states and when a national holiday is in some other country in the world. One of my managers some years ago told me in such situations "It must be managed much better" :-( And here ? Not at all any information what is going on.
+ShowStop Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Plenty of info was posted in the Release Notes thread. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=222156 Seems it wasn't the site code updates that killed the server, it was the Microsoft hotfix patches that did it.

Does this mean that I have to read every thread for such a Info ? For my opinion this must be posted on top of the forum not somewhere hidden in a thread where you must not look at if the site has issues. JM2C
+ftjak Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Come on how much longer is the site going to be down? This is getting ridulous. Leave the site alone it has been working fine.
+beejay&esskay Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Come on how much longer is the site going to be down? I would prefer those who can fix the problem to work on fixing it, rather than just trying to estimate unknowable answers.

Actually all you had to do was read post #2 in this thread. It gave the same information I just posted. You obviously didn't read that post, so what good would stickying a thread at the top of the forum do?
+Schandmaul & Teufelsweib Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Seams that the site is now working fine. Thanks to the people working on this. Schandmaul
+ShowStop Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 As of a few minutes ago, the site is loading really fast.
Elias Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 As part of our release, we unintentionally introduced an inefficient database query which was impacting the whole site. We've disabled the query and will post a fix shortly. However, the site should be running normally now. Elias
+Take A Hike! Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I still can't get results on the "search" page. Rest of the site seems back to normal.

Subscribe to this forum -> http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=4 Every time a site maintenance is done (typically once a month), a note is posted there, and you can expect the site to be weird for a little while after that note goes up. So go outside and find physical caches for a couple hours, instead of looking at them on your monitor.
