bertlake
why not start groups who clean and replace caches with a ''needs mantince'' or missing. also replace logs and trade items Quote Link to comment
+geohens
That sounds like a great idea!!! Quote Link to comment
TM92
sounds like a clever idea. it would work out in areas with enough caches but maybe not in other areas with few caches it would also help cache owners with numerous amounts of hides as well. Clever idea indeed. Quote Link to comment

+BlueDeuce
Typically a cache deteriorates because the cache owner is MIA. Maintaining an owner-less cache is not a service to the community. So I agree with clean and replace if it's clean up the geo-trash and replace it with a new listing and an active owner. Edited May 17, 2009 by BlueDeuce Quote Link to comment
Skippermark
Isn't that what owners are for? Quote Link to comment
+Sol seaker
Isn't that what owners are for? The cache owner actually owns the container, according to Groundspeak. That's the part of the cache they own. It is their job, and something they've agreed to do as cache owners, is upkeep their caches. I agree with all said before: the detoriating caches are often abandoned caches. These need to be cleaned out and replaced with new caches with active owners. Groundspeak put out a notice at the end of winter, that it was time for everyone to do cache maintaince on their own caches. Sometimes, with the caches I find, I think few people read it. So I agree with clean and replace if it's clean up the geo-trash and replace it with a new listing and an active owner. The Michigan Geocachers Organization (MiGo) has the MiGo Rescue Mission. Geocachers go to the site of an archived cache and retrieve the cache and its contents or confirm that it has already been removed. That way there isn't any geotrash left behind.
