SeekerMomma
My kids and i went to the GPS Adventures exhibit at the Pacific Science Center. My husband and I decided we were going to try something similiar at the park with our kids. We found a local company www.specialtybottle.com to get small tins to hide our treasures in. They really seemed to work out well. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Is there some sort of seal for weather resistance?? Doesn't appear to be from the photos but I could be wrong. Quote Link to comment
jholly
They look like altoids tins. They leak and rust and are hard to open after a while unless they are in an area really protected from the weather. Consider Lock'n'Locks (lock'n'lock). Next to ammo cans they are probably the best containers. Jim Quote Link to comment
SeekerMomma
I guess I hadn't really thought about the rust aspect of things considering it was just a one day excursion. They did have a lot of small glass and plastic containers that wouldn't have the rust issue. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I go there to buy containers. Quote Link to comment

Check your local dollar stores. I have found small Lock-n-Locks there for a dollar. Then you can also pick up some swag while your there. Quote Link to comment

A lot of my caching is in the Pacific North Wet so I have some experience in this area. But even the drier areas it is an issue. I would stay away from glass ... it breaks. As for plastic, the key is the seal. Gladware sucks, tupperware is not far behind. Few pill bottles are water tight. Like I said the number one container is an ammo can followed by Lock n Lock. It goes down hill rapidly after that. Jim Quote Link to comment
+CMHN
If this is for a 1 day thing then I wouldn't be afraid to use the tin ones. But if you were going to leave them out for an extended period of time I would go with the plastic ones. Quote Link to comment

I have found a few dollar store lock n lock knock-offs with there tabs broken off or just about to fall off. Invest in a real lock n lock. It will last for years. Quote Link to comment
