containers for treasures

Recommended Posts

My kids and i went to the GPS Adventures exhibit at the Pacific Science Center. My husband and I decided we were going to try something similiar at the park with our kids. We found a local company www.specialtybottle.com to get small tins to hide our treasures in. They really seemed to work out well.

I guess I hadn't really thought about the rust aspect of things considering it was just a one day excursion. They did have a lot of small glass and plastic containers that wouldn't have the rust issue. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I go there to buy containers.

No Glass!!!! Check your local dollar stores. I have found small Lock-n-Locks there for a dollar. Then you can also pick up some swag while your there.

A lot of my caching is in the Pacific North Wet so I have some experience in this area. But even the drier areas it is an issue. I would stay away from glass ... it breaks. As for plastic, the key is the seal. Gladware sucks, tupperware is not far behind. Few pill bottles are water tight. Like I said the number one container is an ammo can followed by Lock n Lock. It goes down hill rapidly after that.

I have found a few dollar store lock n lock knock-offs with there tabs broken off or just about to fall off. Invest in a real lock n lock. It will last for years.
