Place to hide a cache in N.Va

Recommended Posts

Most Virginia State Parks already host several caches, but Mason Neck SP in Northern Virginia only has one so far, and that one was set out by the park staff. The park does have several letterboxes, but the park is willing to accept about 5 new geocaches if anyone is intersted. You just need to get an approved geocaching form from the park to make sure you aren't setting up on top of a letterbox or leading people to the last known rare and endangered whatchamacallit. Contact the park at MasonNeck@dcr.virginia.gov if you are interested.

Sigh. Now we have state parks spamming the forums begging for geocaches. I've seen everything now ;)

That certainly was a snarky comment regarding an agency that welcomes geocaching. Havin' a bad day? :)

It's wonderful to see a parks service actually requesting caches.

I can only dream of the day when the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) people visit the forums and ask for us to place caches in the lands near the Golden Gate Bridge where new caches are currently forbidden indefinitely. (76,000 acres of land and water and nearly 60 miles of bay and ocean shoreline).

I would love to place a cache there but we live about as far away from there and still be in Virginia (Bristol TN/VA.)

I do want to say this: the staff at the Grayson Highlands State Park have been wonderful to work with. I have a few EarthCaches there and some of my friends have some traditional caches there also.

I cannot say enough about the Park Staff's hospitality. They are interested, courteous and always friendly.

I don't know if any of them will see this but it isn't anything I haven't told them in person. Many, many thanks.

Go Grayson Highlands! ;)

Missouri Dept. of Conservation has an article on the back cover of there May issue of the Missouri Conservationist magazine about GeoCaching.

Here is the URL for there GeoCaching info in the magazine. Glad to see they are pushing it.

http://www.mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2009/05/back.htm which shows the back page of the mag.

The link shown on the back cover does not work it should be http://www.mdc.mo.gov/trails/geocaching.htm
