+GeoLobo Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I have started to collect Geo-Trading Cards. I have had three made in the past. If anyone else who has had cards made would like to trade, please contact me. 2009 Blue Line Geocachers (ammo can background) http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/images/b...radingcards.jpg 2008 GeoLobo (topo background) http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/images/g..._both_Sides.jpg 2008 Bluegirl (topo background) http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/images/b..._both_Sides.jpg Quote
+amianda Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I don't have any cards, but I do think these would be cool. They're for a card game designed to have custom cards made by people or corporations. Bit pricey though. http://www.masterofespionage.com/how-to-ad...romo-cards.html Quote

But before you print the topo background one for Geolobo - there's a typo that needs to be fixed! (Mountians) And the BlueLady card has a grammatical error - "And geocaching..." Otherwise, good job! I have them made for about $0.43 per card. You can get 500 cards for $213.00. (Shipping and Design included). It is only another $8.00 for another 500 cards. Yes, thats right $8.00. Most of the cost is in the Printing setup, Design, and shipping. Total cost for 1000 cards = $221.00. The cards are Awsome! Quote

Ya, the typo was already fixed before they were printed in 2008! i'll let you tell Bluegirl about her grammatical error.......since they were already printed a year ago, i think i will not tell her Quote
+Knight2000 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 At the price per card it sounds like a deal. Unfortunately I am not able to cache enough to buy that many I think. We had custom poker chips made at a final cost of <40¢ per chip. Part of the reason I like that idea is that they would not be susceptible to wet, mushy, messy caches. Of course you could always leave those cards in a plastic baggie. They look really well. No one would want a card with me on it though! Quote
+Headhardhat Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I believe, if you contact NCBuscuit at NCGO she made several complete playing card packs with 54 different geocachers as a special prize for last years Fall Fling. There was such a demand I think they are going to be making quite a bit more. Just an FYI. -HHH Quote

I actually have little ziplocks just a touch larger than the cards, that the cards can go into...and then i place them in the cache. I also just trade them to geocachers for their signature items. I give some away...etc. I did the token thingy (2 x), and the geocoin thingy (1x) and I have now done the geo-trading cards twice. I am looking to make the next card, a memorial to a geocacher friend (Mirlan) who passed on last year. I may do a series of these of a number of geocachers who are no longer with us. Quote

I can see how it doesn't cost a cent.......there is nothing to it. <smile> Sorry, i couldn't resist. Your image is not showing for me. I had to remove the img tags and copy/paste it into my browser to view it. here it is: http://cid-be543f6c8aabf929.skydrive.live....ture%20005b.jpg It's not a trading card.... nice signature item though Edited May 7, 2009 by GeoLobo Quote

+Coyote's Girl Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 These remind me a bit of the ATCs (artist trading cards) I make. I'd like to make some for geocaches now that the idea is in my head. Thanks for the inspiration! Quote
+TheAlabamaRambler Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 You can get free software to print your own cards on cardstock... Quote
+Chuy! Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 You can get free software to print your own cards on cardstock... ...and laminate them. Our trading cards are based off a travel bug - whoever finds the TB gets to pick the next "victim". It's a very sought-after TB! Quote
+GeoLobo Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 hmm, i might look into this....however, as cheap as I can get them made, i doubt making 500-1000 cards via this software and then having to laminate each one is more convenieint then ordering them from a print press....with gloss, water resistance already on them. where is the link to this free software?????? and lamination process?????? thanks Quote
Luckless Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Hmmm I'll find laminated pictures in caches of people who have already been there and left them as sig items. Interesting, but they can become geojunk. I think it might be interesting to have "official" geocaching cards that you could have made up into a deck of playing cards- ace through king- each with the same backside so they could be used as playing cards. Then you could have a deck of playing cards to play cards with or trade some or all or leave in caches. Hmmm You have have decks made up with your own geo logo or pictures of your geocaching group or your geocaching buddies or geocaching dogs or whatever, but each would be the same on the back so you could mix and match and use them to play card games with. Hmmm Quote

Interesting, but they can become geojunk. " Sorry, but my cards are not those types of cards....they are professionally made 2 1/2 " X 3 1/2 " Baseball style trading card. They were not made on my home printer, but made by a professional printer who deals in nothing but trading cards. They are not laminated, but are instead glossed with a water resistance covering. I doubt, anyone would call one of my cards geo-junk! My cards are placed in 3" X 4" sealed baggies before being placed in a cache - just for added security. I have had nothing but positive responses since releasing our first card. 2008 GeoLobo (Topo background) http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/images/g..._both_Sides.jpg 2008 Bluegirl (Topo background) http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/images/b..._both_Sides.jpg 2009 GeoLobo/Bluegirl Blue Line Geocachers Association (Ammo Can background) http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/images/b...radingcards.jpg BTW, if anyone makes any of their own, please contact me for trade I am in the process of creating a Memorial card for a friend geocacher (Mirlan) who passed away last year. I have plans of creating cards for both mine and bluegirl's 1000 geocache finds Edited May 12, 2009 by GeoLobo Quote
+ladyrich007 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I make and collect ATCs myself. I have many many of them. This is a great idea for the ATCs. Quote
