Etrex Legend Cx won't show compass pointer or distance to cache

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a noob that just bought a used etrex Legend Cx and do not get a pointer or distance to destination in geocached naviagation mode. I've been able to download geocaches both using easygps and sending directly to GPS from geocaching.com. I see the geocaches appear both in waypoints and geocache categories on the unit.

When I select a geocache and am on the waypoint screen I can see the distance and direction to it. When I selected "go to" at first I got the compass with no pointer. When I added the data fields on top, the distance to destination remained blank (and still does). I played around with the settings and selected "restore defaults". Now the compass setting doesn't come up at all -- it is in map mode.

I've tried reading the manual and message boards to no avail. Can someone clue me in as to if I have wrong settings? (I do have lock on road off, I'm prompted whether to go on road or off road, I have the proper WGS84 and hddd.mmm selected.) Any help is appreciated!

click the top right buton it should scrool threw about five screens

Thanks, I'm able to cycle between compass mode, map mode, and the menu.

I've still got the problem in compass mode. I emailed Garmin and they suggested a Master Reset and upgrade to latest software version. I did both and still no luck. The compass mode still doesn't work - no arrow on the compass to indicate bearing and no data in the distance to destination field.
