View map feature for travel bugs vs. mileage on TB page

Was talking with BurgessFour last night (running IE7) and she stated that a travel bug of hers was picked up, dipped in India (because the cache was too small to leave it) and brought back to the states. The "View Map" feature shows the TB marked and the mileage on the bug looks to be correct (7807.4mi), however when going to the TB Page itself, the mileage stated on "Tracking History" is way incorrect. (I know for a fact India is more than 412.2mi away from the west coast of the states).

 

Can one of you smart people look into this issue?

The owner of a TB can recalculate the travel distance by selecting the option on the right side menu on the TB page. I use it sometimes when a TB travels long distances, works fine for me.
