+tartangreek
Hello! Have you ever wondered what a snowman does in Spring, Summer, Fall? The Geocaching Snowman from T. Steele Jones answers that question! The Caching Place is excited to present our new Geocaching Snowman Series!!! This is the first Geocaching Snowman Coin in a series of four. The Geocaching snowman will be depicted in his seasonal Geocaching environments in Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. The Artist is T. Steele Jones of Carthage, MO. We will post photographs of the coin on May 5th, begin taking pre-orders on May 6th, and start shipping the coin May 25th. This is a 1.75" diameter trackable coin with its own icon. The tentative price is $11.99. The remaining three seasons will be produced once every 2-3 months. The artist is a full time student counselor for a school in Missouri and a gifted water color painter. A short Bio follows: T. Steele Jones Tom Jones has been painting with transparent watercolors for 30 years. He enjoys painting whimsical characters of snowmen in scenes that warm the heart. Jones uses his own photos to capture the light and shadows of his creations as well as his imagination for his snowfolk. He is an associate member of the Missouri Watercolor Society, as well as a member of ArtCentral and Spiva Center for the Arts. Jones has won several local awards including Best of Show 2001 and 2003 at ArtCentral, and Best of Show at the Thomas Hart Benton Competition in 2004 as well as the People’s Choice Award at the Lamar Fair in 2008. Tom also has work in private homes and on display at Cherry’s Custom Frames and Gallery. “The idea of lifting someone’s spirit or giving them a laugh (which is a blessing) to possibly make their day better has always been important to me, I hope my art does that.” He and his family are noobies at geocaching but love to get outdoors together and enjoy the hunt. He hopes that the combination of drawing snowmen and the love of geocaching will be appreciated in this new series of coins. +ThePetersTrio
Thanks for the reply. In all honesty though, I was hoping for reservations over pre-sales. A lot of folks here have been burned by presales and hesitate to participate in them. Personally, there are only 3 vendors that I trust well enough at this point to go that route with. Hopefully there will be some extra coins available after the orders are filled for me to try and snag. It looks to be a cute coin and nice idea for a series. Link to comment

Cordially, Jim Berk Owner The Caching Place Hi again, Maybe I've got misinformation here but didn't The Caching Place recently change ownership? I know I've ordered from the website in the past but it has been many months since I've gotten a newsletter and somewhere along the line I seem to recall being told that the store had been sold. I apologize if I have my facts wrong but if I'm confused, maybe others are too and this would be a great opportunity to find out! PS - I certainly don't mean to detract from the point of this thread though. Sorry if this is too off topic. Link to comment

But as you well know people here are concerned about presales so I had hoped it was allowable to ask for clarification about a vendor who is new to me - even though the company was established previously in a different location. I guess I thought if I was confused that others may be as well. My apologies to everyone. And thanks to Jim for the clarification. Link to comment

+Eartha
Merging with the original Snowman geocoin thread. Please remember, one coin, one thread, keep all the history and information in one place for the community. Edited April 30, 2009 by Eartha Link to comment
+tartangreek
The topics were merged and unfortunately the photographs of the actual coins are now in the middle of the thread. The design photos is what you first see, those are obviously not the photos, please see the actual photos. We've had a tremendous response so far! Cordially, Jim Link to comment
+tartangreek
Merging with the original Snowman geocoin thread. Please remember, one coin, one thread, keep all the history and information in one place for the community. Hi Eartha Please correct the merge you created. The Photographs are suppose to be the first item that everyone is suppose to see not the design proofs. The title of the topic is the PHOTOGRAPHS JUST IN and the merge has buried the photographs. Please correct. Cordially, Jim Link to comment
