Garmin Oregon 400t -maps

My maps don't look like what I have seen advertised. Is this a setting or something?

It is the same scale as the advertised picture. They are not the same.

Maybe the advertised pic is using the 24k Topo West data (vs the standard US Topo 100k)?

 

*shrug*

 

I'd definitely like to know, since that could be quite misleading.

Can you post a screen capture vs. a digital picture of your display, so that we can get a better comparison?

I think it’s your map detail setting. My map shows even more detail than the one you posted from gpsinformation.net. I have my detail set to “most”’

Ok, I emailed Garmin about what maps are on the 400t. Here is there response:

 

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

 

The preloaded map on the 400t is the 100k map. If you live in a state

where we offer the 24k map, I would suggest purchasing the Oregon 300,

and then buying the map separately.

 

Also, if you do purchase the 400t, you will not be able to view the maps

on your computer. If you would like to see the maps on your computer, I

would suggest purchasing the Oregon 300 and buying the TOPO map

separately. This way, you can see the map on the computer and and the

unit.

Okay, this took quite awhile to do but here it is starting left to right:

1st map-posted by OP(Knight2000). 2nd map-my Oregon 400t with City Navigator North America NT2009 and Topo US 2008 enabled. 3rd map-my Oregon 400t with only Topo US 2008 enabled.
