faustopheles
Hi there Geocaching People first of all, I love your portal. My parents love it even more. :-) I'm from Germany and parents came to geocaching a couple of months ago. To cut a long story short: They're engaged in the German GC-Community and they love it. Now, my mum is an English teacher and she's doesn’t mind Geocaching.com being just English, my Dad (and many other potential German cachers, too) has some problems navigating through the pages and doing all the stuff. I wanted to ask, whether there are some plans to do some i18n on Geocaching.com? All Strings in the pages could be externalized and language files could be updated through the community. This would make Geocaching.com potentially usable for many more people. I would be willing to help translating (or even programming, but as Geocaching, com is commercial, that's probably tricky) and I guess there are lots of people out there that would be willing to contribute, too. Wouldn't it be nice to include those people not able to speak English and increase the community even further. Best wishes, I'm off to a Geocaching day right now. Hope you had a Happy Easter! +ThirstyMick
Hi, Google has a tool you can use. but it isn't perfect. Obviously any text that is an image file isn't translated, but the bigger issue is it seems that clicking on links makes it go back to english or depending on the link, fail. You could give it the path to translate specific cache pages, though. Quote Link to comment
