60CSx Sat search

Recommended Posts

I have 2 60 CSx's. One for me and one for my wife. Yet if I turn them both on after them both being off for a few days, her's finds sat lock in under a minute and mine takes 4 minutes or more. Any ideas as to what could be happening?

Mine=software version 3.60 GPS SW Version 3.00

Hers is the same as mine.

WAAS is enabled on both for whatever THATS worth!

Make sure yours isn’t set to Battery Saver mode: MENU>MENU>Setup>System>GPS dropdown. You want it set to Normal.

If that isn’t the problem, have you tried a factory reset? Back up all your data first, then:

1.) Power OFF the unit.

2.) Press and hold QUIT, MENU, OUT at the same time, then power on the unit. The

buttons can be pressed in any sequence, as long as POWER is the last

button you press.

3.) The device will boot up.

4.) Check to see if any of your data still remains within the unit.

If any of that data remains, then the reset did not take and try it

again. If you no longer have any waypoints, tracks, etc. then the reset

took effect and everything should be back to its factory setting.

Have you calibrated your GPS? I have a 60csx as well and I find I have to calibrate the compass if it has been off and is 100 miles or more from where I last had it on. To calibrate it, go to the compass page and hit the menu button, calibrate is in there and just follow the on screen instructions.

That has nothing to do with finding satellites.

I was just offering a suggestion, sorry.
