When my micro sd card is in the unit it will power on for a second then power off by itself. When I remove the SD card the unit will power on normally and operate properly.

 

I'm guessing it is an issue with the sd card. I would like to erase the files on the SD card but I can't access it if the unit turns off by itself when the SD card is in the unit.

 

Anyone heard of problems like this?

I guess that it may be a corrupt mapfile on the SD-card that causes the HCx to die while trying to read it. You really should get a microSD card reader for your computer so that you can check the card.

You do not need the SD card in the unit, either to load maps or erase data, use an SD card reader, it's also faster because the unit only runs at usb 1 speeds and a card reader will run at usb 2 speeds.

I had a problem like this on my Legend HCx, it was due to the SD card not seating properly.
