About this coin:

 

"Hamburg is the gate to the world - but Bremen keeps the key."

 

This is how the vernacular says in regards of the city arms. The Key of Bremen in its roots is a heavens key. The well known attribute of apostle Petrus is derived from the words »I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven« (Matth. 16, Verse 19). Taken in purpose along with the city seal of 1366, the privy seal shows Petrus, the patron saint of the Bremen Cathedral, with a blazon to his feet showing a gothic key - the eldest proof for the city arms.

 

Bremen, since 1945 the "Free Hansecity of Bremen", consisting of the cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven, is the smallest state of the Federal Republik of Germany. Not wihout pride, the citizens refer to their traditionally, repeatedly hostiled and threatened, independence for which the Key of Bremen stands as a symbol. Bremen - the key to the world.

 

On 23rd November 2003, we found as TandT (Tanja and Thorsten) the very first cache. Since then, Geocaching has become the key to a new world for us in which we found a lot of great caches and met hundreds of nice people.

 

I'd like to trade for any trackable geocoin that is not already in my inventory - no matter what version - but please feel free to offer any other trade (via my profile) as well.

Are you NEW to collecting and/or trading??

 

I am interested in helping a new collector to conduct his/her first trade. I have a Lotus Compass geocoin (couple of different versions available to choose from) that I am willing to trade for ANYTHING (even if I already have it) with a new collector. In addition, I will also throw in a personal ELTADA GeoJellies4 micro bean (Pomegranate flavour) with the trade.

edited to add: the reason I am doing this is because I always remembered my very first trade and how nice bluecherry was when I traded with her. I traded a Titanic - Night Version for an Assassin's Creed Four Muskateers coin and still have it and her little signature item she sent along with it. For the longest time, I still considered myself a newbie until recently when someone mentioned that I was an experienced trader. I have been trading for almost 2 and a half years and it feels like yesterday when I started! So I thought I would help anyone who was just starting out with a trade...it's hard in the beginning when you don't know any coins and don't have a lot to trade.

Steampunk is a genre of science fiction or speculative fiction that usually has anachronistic elements such as space travel and robotics in the Victorian era. H G Wells and Jules Verne were 'steampunk' authors, although the term wasn't coined until the 1980s. Will Smith's horrible 'Wild Wild West' could be considered Steampunk (but is better if just ignored).

Sorry for being absent...

 

When I think of steampunk, I think of movies that have big old pieces of machinery in them with lots of cogs and wheels; they're creaky and mysterious. That's my simplified version, but because I am an English teacher, I should probably go with something a little more in-depth having to do with the literary aspect of it.

 

There's a bit of a steampunk fad going on right now in jewelry as redshoes was explaining...lots of antique-y mixtures of pieces of watches and other machines, odds and ends of jewelry, feathers, etc. It's pretty eclectic and very cool. A little dark-side, too, as one of my students would say!

the spaceship - destiny - has a steampunk feel to it. you know there would be way more synthetics, plastics and stuff on a "real" spaceship, but the whole ship looks as if it was assembled in metal shop.

I bought it to actually send on a mission, but now I don't know...I really like it and if I could get a set, I would work on doing so.

Argh! We are two rats, a dog, and a rabbit, so those are the ones I'm looking for specifically, although to have a whole set would be the coolest, of course. So, off I go to search again , I guess. Ugh!

 

And what does "ILYK" mean??

 

ETA: I found a picture of Year of the Rat, but what I would like to have are coins that are similar to the Tiger one...they're sharp and classy and have staying power IMO. I haven't been able to find pictures of the dog one yet, but I've only been looking for a few minutes. I like the ox coin, but it's not similar enough to the tiger...who made the tiger coin?

I was thinking a series along the same lines as the Tiger coin style, but I can maybe email jackalgirl and see if she has plans for any more. Mine doesn't have any enamel on it, except for the yin-yang on the back and the Chinese symbol on the front in green.
