GuentherGal
Hello! We are heading to Kansas, Oklahoma, and perhaps a tip of Texas this summer. We are interested in doing caches along Route 66 and would appreciate any input you may have. We are also looking for Ghost town and historical type things. We will basically be in the Witchita, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Amarillo areas. What series and caches would you reccomend? What caches that are must do's? I've noticed several series and bookmark lists, but there just seems to be soooo many. Thanks for the suggestions and help! Quote Link to comment
scuba dude
I can't help you with any "must do" caches. If you are planning on following Rt 66, there will be more caches than you could possibly find in one trip. I would suggest loading a route PQ and reviewing all the caches along the way to see which ones you really want to go after. Quote Link to comment
tomfuller & Quill
If you are travelling through Chicago, you can find "One End of Rt. 66" at the intersection of Jackson Blvd. & Michigan Ave. The others I have done are between Barstow and Victorville California. I really enjoyed the "Devil Dog" cache along the "National Trails Highway" (Historic Rt. 66). Sorry I can't help you with anything in between. Quote Link to comment
windward01
I'm a newbie at geocaching living in Tulsa. We were out today and found a Rte 66 cache: GC1B3QE, Where the Buffalo Roam. There is also another: GC101F6, Mother Road we will go after next weekend...both are on the old Rte 66 on the west side of Tulsa. Quote Link to comment
webscouter.
Well in Kansas the mother road is really short, only 12.8 miles long in the south east corner of the state. It is a pretty far drive from Wichita Kansas. But as for caches GC106NY, Rainbow Bridge Cache is a must see. It is the only remaining Marsh Arch Bridge on Route 66. Quote Link to comment
