GPS for Geocache & Car

The nuvi 500 series is the best unit for both purposes but it isn't cheap. Around $500+ but Designed to do both.

Trouble with most in-car nav units is they are not comfortable to hold in your hand, have low battery life, are not rugged and tend to route you back to roads. They are just not well suited to Geocaching.

On the flip side, most handheld units have awkard button placement for car use, do not speak directions, have small screens, do not come with pre-loaded maps, have poor mounts for car use.

My best suggestion is to get a cheap in-car unit (Nuvi 200 series) and an inexpensive handheld for trail use like the Garmin Venture HC.
