Hiding a new geocache

Hello at all,

 

my question might sound a bit silly, but how do i get the "name" of the cache, this GCxxxx number?

To finish may cache i need this number because i want to write it on the cache itself as well as on notes to put them in to the cache. I can't publish it without this number, becauce it is not finished and not ready to be searched for. But to get this GCxxxx, it seems that i have to fullfil this "report a new cache" form.

But if i mark there that it is not active yet, no reviewer will look at it and tell me this GCxxxx. But without this GCxxxx, it is not active.

 

So how do you manage that with your caches and the GCxxxx number?

You can get the GC number without enabling the cache for the reviewer to see. Make sure when you write up the cache page that you unclick the box that will enable the reviewer to see the cache you are submitting. You will automatically be assigned a GC number once you submit the cache, even if the reviewer hasn't seen it yet! When you are all ready for the reviewer to see the cache listing, just enable the cache. Easy! Good luck.

You do need to fill out the online form.

 

If the cache is not ready to be published i.e. you are still working on it, the you need to untick the box that says: Yes, this listing is active (For new listings, if you want to work on this listing before it is reviewed, uncheck this box. Reviewers will only see the listing in the queue when it is checked.)

 

Then agree to the T&C and the cache page will be created and a GC number atomaticaly assignd.

 

At this point the reviews will not see your cache untill you go back and re-tick the box.

When you goto your cache page. You have the option to check a box "post for reviewer" or something like that. Just don't check that box and click on submit. There should be a GC# when you look at it again.

 

And just so you know, take a good look at your post. Check your spelling. Make sure you said what you meant to say when you said it.

Good suggestion, Redjada. Check, double check, and then triple check your coords so others don't go on a wild goose chase trying to find your cache. PLEASE, PLEASE do a spell-check too! I wish everyone would follow these suggestions. Good luck with the cache!
