+DogHeadGod
I just had another look at the iPhone Geocaching app (which I bought some time ago) and see the new "update" lets you log finds and track trackables. But as far as I can tell I would need to pay another £7 for it. Am I alone in thinking a software update should be free, especially when the features added are basic features that should have been there all along? Quote Link to comment
+Allanon
Where are you seeing this information? The App Store here still lists 1.2 as the current version and that version doesn't have the Log or Track features you describe. Quote Link to comment
+DogHeadGod
I read it here -> http://www.geocaching.com/iphone/default.aspx And if you flick through the screenshots for version 1.2 in the app store you can see that field notes is an option (fourth picture). Currently I am running version 1.1.1. Quote Link to comment
+Allanon
"Field notes" does not equal "logging". And as Keystone said, updates are free. Quote Link to comment

The text in the first link explicity says you are able to log finds. Yes, generally software updates are are free, but as far as this app is concerned the software has been updated and the only way for me to get it is to pay another £7 Quote Link to comment
+iPhone3Gcacher
did you delete the original app from your phone? If so when you visit the app store to redownload it will look like you have to pay for it again. When you click purchase it will ask for your password just like you are paying. Then a window will pop up stating that you have already purchased this app and that you will not be charged to download it again. Quote Link to comment

You can log with v1.2, click on the field notes button and when that page opens click "log type". Quote Link to comment
+SaltercreaseRangers
You might also need to update the software on the iPhone itself - as the install notes recommend, if you haven't updated it recently through iTunes. Quote Link to comment
