+Carbon Hunter
Well it certainly looks like the Western Cape remains a geocaching stronghold in South Africa - here is another stat in their favour. Of the top 25 "favourite" caches in South Africa Western Cape = 16 Gauteng = 5 Free State = 3 KwaZulu Natal = 1 Rest of SA = 0 As they say "stats and lies" as there are some brilliant caches out there in the lesser travelled parts of the country like Northern Cape and Mpumalnaga- they probably just don't have 50 - 80 odd finds. Perhaps a GSAK guru can do a %age of favourites on some of these caches? Link to comment

For what it is worth, Wikipedia regards Madeira, Reunion, St. Helena and the Canary Islands (as well as a number of Spanish enclaves in Morocco) as part of Africa (geographically) although they are administered by European countries. +TechnoNut
I know this can be done via GSAK, but it is a bit long winded. For the SQLite query writers - is there an easn way of generating a table of the number of active cache types by Province / Municipal District? e.g. Province - District: # Traditional, # Multi, # Unknown, # Earthcache ....etc ... +Danie Viljoen
Mega Event Statistics 4 Effect of the Mega event on the vicinity: During the week of the Mega event, 4315 caches were found in Pretoria by 199 cachers. The average for this time of the year is 170 caches found in Pretoria by 38 cachers. This implies 25 times more finds by 5 times the average number of cachers. For the whole of Gauteng the numbers are: For the week of the Mega event: 5233 finds by 239 cachers. Average for this time of the year: 480 finds by 101 cachers. This implies 11 times more finds by 2.4 times the average number of cachers This hints that a fairly big proportion of the attendees were from outside Gauteng. (Unfortunately the data does not contain the cachers' origins.) Link to comment

+AndyT1
Hi Danie Any chance of getting an update on the top 81 Difficulty / Terrain stats? Possibly for the top 20 as you did before? Apart from those that have recently completed the matrix I know that some others have made significant progress on their travels to the MEGA. Link to comment
+Carbon Hunter
The latest Favourite Cache list for SA A second cache cracks the 50 point mark today - well done to Hesamati for joining CapeDoc. Also a good few of the MEGA event caches shooting into the top list - especially interesting is the Wherigo in position 21 - does this mean more Wherigo caches in the country? I hope so - they are fun. Only one disabled (Snail Mail in KZN - while the previous disabled in now back up and running). Edited October 30, 2012 by Carbon Hunter Link to comment

+Danie Viljoen
My latest stats tell me this - one of us must be wrong Stats dated 17 November. You have found 1790 caches in Africa from 3 Apr 2010 to 17 Nov 2012, for an average of 1.86 finds/day. This puts you in the 16th place. It is unfortunately not practical to calculate this for all (worldwide) finds, because this would mean that I need to have access to all the find logs - not possible with only 5 PQs per day.
