I have an Oregon 300 & have uploaded the co-ordinates, but what else do we need with us? I mean in geocache terms (not coats & boots etc Pen or pencil, something to put in the cache? we don't want to make a faux-pas & get it wrong etc. By the way if anyone in the Watford area would like to offer some practical advice, don't be scared we don't bit...............well wifey does a bit Kind Regards the cache virgins Quote Link to comment
+Bambography
Its always worth carrying a pen or pencil. Most normal sized caches will have one but if you carry one then you know you can sign the log when you find it. If you have small items that you can use as a trade item then take them with you. When you find the cache, if there is something you want, trade something with it (but you are not at all obliged to do so!). I should probably follow the next bit of advice myself but sometimes a pair of gloves are a good thing. You never know where the cache will be and bearing in mind the weather of late, the state of the outside... If its a multi-cache and doesn't hint at the length it is sometimes worth having an OS map of the area in case you need to find you way to a different footpath. With multis in mind, a notebook can be handy to note answers to questions or doing calculations in. Other than that so long as you take a sense of humour all should fine as far as i'm concerned. +The Blorenges
Bambography has covered all the essential points, I think... What size cache are you going to search for? It usually better to search for a small cache, or larger, for your first hunt. Those micros and nanos can be very tricky when you're new to the game. Don't expect the cache to be right there, exactly, when you get to the co-ordinates... The cache owner's co-ords may have been a bit out when the cache was placed and your GPS will (hopefully) get you to within 20/30 feet so as you approach over the last 50 foot start using your own instincts and think, "Now where would I hide a cache in this area?" Good luck! MrsB Quote Link to comment
