Its been pretty quiet here for a few weeks...

Now these three Earthcaches are:......

In an area where boxes are not allowed.

Two of the three have a direct connection or Special Relationship with Fingals Cave.

The process that formed two of the caches are reflected in the third cache.

Are not in Europe.

Are not far from a Big ski area

Close to some Lakes

And when the day comes, I hope I'm not there. Although Charton Heston, Genevieve Bujold and Ava Gardner were.

Bump - though I have no idea where it is.

Anyone of these caches will do to get the Ding.

Right... here we go, then...

The three caches are:-

GC1FE0J, GC1FE07 & GC1D6GB

They're located at the 'The Devil's Postpile', not a million miles from San Francisco, a volcanic lava formation very similar to the hexagonal column formation at Fingal's cave and the Giant's Causeway. They were revealed and polished as a glacier flowed over them some 80,000 years later.

Charleton Heston, Ava Gardener & Genevieve Bujold starred in the 1974 film "Earthquake" set in San Francisco.

DING.

Well done John.

The only thing you missed was that they are all near Mammoth Lakes which is a ski area.

Ahh.... well not being a 'prehistoric mountain man', how was I supposed to know that? :)

OK... name this 'first' cache and the 'puddle' that surrounds it.

I think you're right about us being the only two players...

Have you forgotten that I'm an 'honorary Scot'? That was too easy, the caches are GCWVT0 Sandend Stash Mk II and GC122XM Findlater Castle.:laughing:

OK.... we'll keep it easy, in the UK and a bit closer to home.

Name the cache, please (and if you can for a bonus point, the name of the long, rectangular building without a roof in the bottom right corner)

That would be another DING and back to you, Nick.

And yes, it's only 2 or 3 miles from where I grew up. I used to play up there when I were nowt but a sprog. Kids aren't allowed to wander that far from home any more

Loch Tarff and Local Hero. GC1AYFM

As this is just down the road from me, and I'm too much of a regular visitor to this quiz, I was waiting for someone else to answer apart from Pharisee and myself.

But I got weary and had to jump in......

AGH!!!!

Pretty new to this but have been looking at this thread every couple of weeks with interest and all ways thought it to be really hard to do so this!

It is hard but being the first time of trying and getting the right country and that it was a loch and getting the film and being so close, will definately be trying again!
