+boats2 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Is it GC1DDE, Pyramid of the Sun? DING! I was hoping it wouldn't go quite that fast. Quote

+milvus-milvus Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Right.......here goes......what is the cache in the middle of the picture? Hrisey (GC1WEVZ). And the cache is still unfound a couple of weeks after being published... Quote
+milvus-milvus Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Well, I thought it would be easy - it's received a lot of recent visits... Quote
+Simply Paul Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) Well, I thought it would be easy - it's received a lot of recent visits... Sand Point Earthcache - GC1CY03 Edit: I'm going to go ahead and self-ding (can lead to blindness) and ask, can you name either of these two caches? ("No" will not get you a ding!) +Simply Paul Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Let's narrow it down for you. The caches are in Wales. Quote

+GAZ Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Well done on spotting those two caches (Ding-conformation), but I can't see your picture Hmmm.......had a re-think, and I can only work out that since I posted the piccy first, I have re-named it and maybe that is the reason? Flippin technology..........marvelous, innit??!! Quote

Well that's a start I guess I knew it was Northern Hemisphere from the shadows and was thinking around the Mediterranean but there are millions of islands. I better get started. Oh by the way, have you visited this cache? Quote

I love these kind of quizzes, so hopefully I will get a few right Nice to meet you all Quote

I had it sussed as soon as I read it. For the record, unless I use a different account, something that I don't do, the cache would show up as a smiley rather than a cache box if I had found it. So the answer to your question is no. Not much help really is it. Edited August 20, 2009 by Haggis Hunter Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 As it has been 24 hours since the photo was put up, I thought I would do another but zoomed out a bit this time. Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Doesn't the water look lovely and warm? I bet if you went for a dip it would be a bit Baltic! Quote

Not much help really is it. Never thought of that, but as i use Google Earth standalone, and not from the cache page map, my finds just show up as a box. Anyway, now it's zoomed out a bit, I will be looking a bit harder! MagicallyAdept......welcome to the forums and hope you enjoy caching! Gaz Quote
+The Other Stu Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 We've found it (I say we, 3 of us at work!) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sour...055189&z=14 It's near Sams0 and is called Kyholm. The cache is called Kyholm Bastion http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c1-cc790e1fdfb4 Quote
+The Other Stu Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 OK, I'll take this as a ding! I've got a really interesting place that's not that far away. The Tiger and I have it on our "To Visit" list. I guess I have to ask what's the cache? The other question is the building circled, what is its use and who do you presume owns it and what country is it in? Quote

+The Other Stu Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 OK, I need to give some clues. Bob Carolgee's dog might help. But the dog's grown. Very big. In fact, bigger than big. Biggest? Quote
+Simply Paul Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Digby... ah, Newfoundland! On a spit in Newfoundland. Quote
+The Duckers Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) The cache is Nida Cache GCX6NA. It is located on the largest spit in the world which is the Curonian Spit. The building in question would be a Russian border control. The border between Lithuania and Russian Kaliningrad splits the spit! Presumptuous in giving a self ding, I will happily pass on posting a new pic and leave it to someone else. Simply Paul, if you would like to take the reins? Edited August 21, 2009 by Turtlebum Quote
+GAZ Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Any clues? I don't even know where to start looking Quote
+Simply Paul Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 That's a castle of sorts at the top. When you think 'castle', where does that lead you...? Quote
+Simply Paul Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 It leads you to Wales, where you can't nip to the shops without tripping over a castle. Quote
MagicallyAdept Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 It leads you to Wales, where you can't nip to the shops without tripping over a castle. Yes but that aerial photograph shows the land bathed in sunshine so it can't be in Wales Quote
+Simply Paul Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Yes but that aerial photograph shows the land bathed in sunshine so it can't be in Wales Ah, but that's because it's near the seaside, where it's always sunny As an extra clue; Tally Ho! Quote

Not sure what is different on this forum - I use slide.com to host the images. So unless anyone can give me advice ..... then maybe best that ZoomLens jumps in (as I wouldn't have got the cache without their help) Quote

Yep.. when you compose your reply, theres an INSERT IMAGE on the toolbar, hit that and type in th eURL of your picture on slide.com.... and that should be it. But I'm sure you've sussed that out! and I can't think of a reason why it won't work here if it's ok at GAGB Edited August 28, 2009 by Birdman-of-liskatraz Quote
+The Blorenges Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 (edited) When you try to post the image you have to click on the little tree icon, then paste in the URL of your photo location in the box... then click OK... That not working for you? If not, you'll just have to wait there patiently 'til one of those very techy people appears MrsB ... oh look! there's Birdman... he qualifies as "techy".
