Anyway. I noticed that when I run a search query for something like one of my coins, the tree of life, it comes back with an error saying it won't search for terms with less than 3 characters (totally understandable).

But when I run the search as a phrase, "tree of life", even though it is 12 characters I still get the error if it contains "of".

I end up searching for +tree +life but then I get every post out there with the two words anywhere in it.

Can this be changed or does someone have a suggestion for searching within the present capabilities?

One alternative method to consider is to use an Internet search engine such as Google. If it has been indexed, the following search will work from Google.

"tree of life" site:forums.Groundspeak.com

Adding "site:forums.Groundspeak.com" (without the quotes) to any Google Search will scan only the forums for your search terms.

You can use Google to search within a specific website when the built in search feature won't cut it. Just append "site:example.com", where you replace example.com with whatever website you want to search minus the http:// part. To search these forums you would use "site:forums.Groundspeak.com". I frequently use it on forums which require you to register to use the search function, but to which I don't want to register since I'm not going to post.

Here's how I would search for your desired query.

Although using google this way is a good idea, it can miss a lot.

For example, you have to be logged in to see the "geocaching web site" forum, so google isn't catching this. Same for the Off Topic forum.

Just something to be aware of.
