+Prime Suspect
The "send to GPS" feature for Garmin is no longer working for me. I checked, and the latest plug-in is installed. I'm seeing the same problem. Garmin site confirms it's installed and up to date. Link to comment
+Shilo
One issue/question. I use GSAK to make profile stats and they are all messed up. Do I need to update them to fix this the next time I get a MY Finds PQ? Edit: Turns out this occurs because we have restricted the use of the <div> tag in text boxes in this release. People were using this tag to obscure areas of the profile which were not meant to be obscured. It's unfortunate that some user's decision to exploit HTML have affected honest users, but that is something we could not allow. I'm afraid those elements of your profile which used this tag will have to be reformed. So what exactly does <div> do and how/what was being obscured? Link to comment

+GPX Navigators
I've always entered my cache finds as first one done to last one done on any given day, so that when looking at the profile page, the first cache done for that day was at the bottom of the list for that day. So this change means I can keep entering my caches the same way, only now the first done of the day will be at the top. Is that right? Or do I have to change how I enter my finds, etc? Thanks. Edited to add: As I am looking at my cache pages the entries don't seem to be in any kind of order except date order. No, you can keep logging in this way and expect the last log you post to be on top. In looking at the page now it seems (although I swear it keeps changing - long day, trust me!) that the first cache done of a day is the first entry for that day. So to get that look going forward, do I now enter last cache of the day first so that it appears at the end of the day's logs? Or maybe the better question to ask is, have the cache pages changed or is this going to be going forward from today's entries. Thanks Nate for answering my probably silly questions. Link to comment

+JeremyR
Can I take this opportunity (since TPTB are obviously reading this thread) to mention my pet bug that's still there. In Firefox (Win32/v3.0.6 FWIW) on the Geocaching Google map (/map/default.aspx) clicking on the cache icons does not produce the popup balloon with cache info as intended. The 'Requesting cache description' box appears and then disappears but no info is displayed. This is an intermittent problem that occurs roughly 75% of the time. I've observed this personally on multiple computers and it has been reported by multiple users so it's clearly not a local issue. The map page is virtually useless if you can't easily access the info for the caches that are displayed. Also, if you want to stop people covering up the gift membership links in their profiles (which I totally agree with you doing) then why not just block the 'position:absolute' CSS directive? There's no need to ban all CSS in the <div> element to achieve this, which is a really rather large sledgehammer to crack a very small nut. Link to comment
OpinioNate
We're going to roll back the <div> tag change and work on finding other ways to prevent the abuse. It seems there are far too many users who are negatively affected by the removal of the use of this tag to justify the loss. I'm sorry for the folks who have been inconvenienced! Link to comment

If I wanted to, which I don't, I could still add an <img style="position: absolute; left: 10px; top: 10px;" src="white.gif" /> to my profile / cache page and hide anything on the page. Are we going to cripple image tags as well? And if the image tag is crippled, I can think of a few more tags to get this behaviour... Just disallowing "position:absolute" fixes all attack vectors I can think of, while still allowing normal usage of the <div> tag in profiles/cache descriptions. Link to comment

Before the PDF option came along, I used to print out 5 pages, then the option to print out ALL information, including decrypted hints, and TB or geocin contents, were all available on ONE page via PDF! What's happenened to that? We now have to go backwards and print out all the logs again? What a complete waste of paper and ink! Link to comment

+dakboy
DeLorme: Now you can send caches directly to your PN-Series GPS units from DeLorme using the Send to GPS feature on every cache page. Download the browser plugin. ==================================== I downloaded the Delorme browser plugin and it seems to work fine and will download cache info directly to my PN-20 as long as I'm doing it from IE, but doesn't recognize that I've downloaded and installed the plugin when I'm accessing from AOL 9.1. It continues to prompt me to download the plugin whenever I try to send cache info to my GPS. Should it work from within AOL or is that not supported? There are system requirements listed right there on that plugin page, and I don't see AOL listed. Perhaps you should complain to DeLorme. AOL's browser is either IE or Mozilla-based (I quit keeping track years ago), and may require you install it there in addition to IE - especially if it's Mozilla-based. Link to comment

+ghettomedic
5552: Discontinue PDF print function Removed the PDF print function from cache page Why was this removed? I just went to Premium Membership, and appreciated the PDF printing -- neater layout, shows if any travel bugs/geo coins are supposed to be in the cache, and sometimes when I would use the "Print Simple" layout previously, the header info (coords, D/T ratings, etc.) would not print, so I would have to go back and write them on the paper (I know, I need to go paperless, but I'm just not there yet). Also gave a good place to take notes and work any decryption. I can understand some of the other changes, but this seems to have taken away something that I (briefly) found very useful and worth upgrading for. I agree I liked the PDF MUCH better, much cleaner and used less paper. Link to comment

But it seem's a little funny now when I open up GC.com in my browser and on the selection on the side it now read's "My Proflie" instead of "My account". click on that and it take you to your account page not right to your proflie. +Viajero Perdido
Re the short-lived purging of DIV tags, It sounds like a tiny percentage of users broke the trust between themselves and Groundspeak, and did something unwanted with DIVs. To deal with this, Groundspeak broke that same trust (at least temporarily) between itself and a much larger percentage of its users. I trust Groundspeak to not edit or demolish the carefully-crafted cache pages I put together. Please: Measure twice, cut once Link to comment

OpinioNate
Now that the update is for the most part well in hand, I'd like take a moment to thank the reviewers for their help in testing the release. Since Friday we made available a test site which allowed the volunteer reviewers to dig around and try to break things, and a number of bugs were caught which may have slipped by us. Based on the success of this trial run, we'd like to make this a regular part of the pre-release procedures, and I believe we'll all benefit greatly as a result. Their service to Groundspeak and Geocaching.com never ceases to amaze, and all of us here are enormously grateful for it. Thank you! Link to comment

Same problem, if you go to my user page http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=1e...2e-080d601db473 and click on "Geocaches" there. Neither "All Cache finds" nor "All Cache hides" nor any of the cache type icons work for my username. As far as I can see, this problem happens exactly in the seek/nearest.aspx program and it may have to do with the brackets. Tschoeeee Roland Edited February 12, 2009 by RoRo[tm] Link to comment
+The Hawks
While PDF's are still available, I would highly recommend using the Firefox browser in place of Internet Explorer. I tried Firefox on my Desktop computer and it practically froze the entire thing, even when I had lots of memory and I was only running the browser. I had to delete it and then go into RegEdit and pick out the leftover pieces of Firefox the uninstall program didn't take out. Because of that, Firefox isn't getting anywhere near my laptop!!! I bet you are using Trend Micro PC-cillin Antivirus 11 or some crap like that ... Any chance we can put more than one GPSr on the list of GPSr's? I used three in total. (Don't ask why cause I really don't know) I just picked the one I use the most. but I'm heding over to find out now. Opt-in! Ok, you have removed the PDF print function from cache page, ok, you have canceled using of some HTML tags, so I think it should be OK, when you return my money for Premium Account, because I think, when I pay for something Ill get it... If no, in my country it is infraction of a treaty and it is agains laws in EU... Basically, you're right, but there's nothing about that in the contract. Link to comment
