+PascMiss
Hi, I just purchased a 60CSx. All it has is the basemap that came with it. I have read the book and played with it. Is it possible to get street names on this map? Am I missing something. I can not see any streets on the map. I just see highways. Am I doing something wrong? I know that I read that the basemap that comes with this gps is not very good, but I thought it would be better than that. Thank you for your time. Chip (PascMiss) Quote Link to comment

There are a lot of 60CSx questions out and about. Look at the bottom of this forum page for some mapping info. I hope this will help. Quote Link to comment
+nefesh
60csx only comes with a basemap which isn't much. I bought City Navigator North America NT 2009. It's wonderful. Comes in both DVD and SD. Check it out. Also look on Garmin's website for maps compatible for your unit. Quote Link to comment
+jpwrangler
I suggest getting the DVD. Really useful on the desktop for planning trips. You will like CN. Quote Link to comment
cometcrazie737
I suggest getting the DVD. Really useful on the desktop for planning trips. You will like CN. I'm looking to buy CN. I just ordered a Vista Cx on eBay and want to use the turn by turn feature. Do i need the DVD and the data card. I found a guy selling just the data card and no DVD. Is that a rip off? I have no idea how it will work. Thanks Quote Link to comment

Also, if you want to add topo maps later, you can not put them on the City Navigator data card. If you buy the DVD, you can look at maps on your computer, plan routes, and add topo maps to a microSD card that you buy seperately. In short, just the data card works great for someone who just wants to put the card in their GPS and have maps for the US to route on. If you are wanting to play around with it on your computer and want more customization, then the DVD version is the way to go. Quote Link to comment
+iamasmith
Be aware that if you go into Highway view on a 60CSx it just shows the road that you are navigating on, no text etc. I never found it to be particularly useful to try to actually drive in this mode. If you are going to use the standard map view or the route directions screen then it is fine. The Oregon (and almost certainly the Colorado) has an Automotive mode for the map that shows you a 3D Satnav style map which is just the same as the Automotive units, albeit you can't turn it landscape.
