About1000Ants Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Hey Everyone! I'm new to geocaching and am naturally spreading the word to all my friends and coworkers on how much fun this has been so far. One of my coworkers thought it would be great to post a geocache near our office (on public property of course) and fill it with custom made stickers and geocaching garments. We are a screen printing and embroidery company, so we can do these things with little cost to fill it with some appropriate geocache swag. Of course, they want to put our company's name somewhere on swag we fill it with. I do not plan on putting anything about our company in the listing, just filling the actual cache with the geocache related with our company name swag. Is this going to be frowned upon when people find the cache...i expect the contents to be really nice vinyl geocaching stickers and embroidered items, produced at our company. Reviewing the rules, as long as we don't require the finder to come inside or buy anything, or post anything about the company in the listing, we're withing the guidelines of not being a commercial cache. Thoughts? Please help ya'll, I don't want to get blacklisted! Quote
+JBnW Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) I do not plan on putting anything about our company in the listing, Yep. And don't mention too much about the swag, either... just a note about "we'll try to keep some high quality swag in this cache" should suffice. i expect the contents to be really nice vinyl geocaching stickers and embroidered items, I'd love to find stuff like this in a cache! (Just don't mention that on the cache page) edited fer spelin Edited February 6, 2009 by JBnW Quote
+geognerd Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 This sounds like a neat idea to me. If you plan on putting the geocaching logo on your items, you may want to consult this page about using Groundspeak's logos first. Quote
+briansnat Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I don't think that would be a problem. Even if the reviewer disagrees, you won't be blacklisted. He just won't publish your cache and will work with you to make it publishable. Quote

If you plan on putting the geocaching logo on your items, you may want to consult this page about using Groundspeak's logos first. We're going to use the Leatherman GX logo ...which is public domain and can be used or altered without restriction, so I think we're good there. Thanks for your help! Quote
+Airmapper Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Cool, your in my area! I'll watch the listings and try to come up with some equal trades! Quote
+hukilaulau Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I'd love to find something like that, too! maybe it will be my first cache in Kentucky. I've been known to drive a long way for something special! Quote
About1000Ants Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 Thanks for your input, everyone. We're pumped about making some quality items to put in our cache. I've been taking coordinates everyday so we can get them averaged out and post it as soon as possible. Gotta think up something swanky to put in for the FTF! Quote
