Placing Geocaches Mission!

Recommended Posts

I have seen many geocoin missions and have even done a few. I really like the idea of pairing up people with the same mission/idea. I have sent two of mine to other countries.

I have been looking for a cache mission, but haven't been able to find one as of yet. Now I'm sure someone else has already come up with this, but I thought I could give it a try all the same.

So here is what I propose.......

What if you could pair up with someone and have them place a cache on your behalf and vis-versa.

Let's say you and I pair up, and I place a cache here in my area. I would then send you the cords and any particulars about the cache. You would then publish the cache under your name. I would place the cache on my watch list to keep an eye on it just in case it needs maintenance. You would also do the same for me, then I could publish the cache with my name and you could keep an eye on it for me by way of your watch list.

There would be no postage involved unlike mailing a geocoin halfway across the world. Before you place the hide, you can decide on what size both of you would be placing.

Now I can’t think of all the details right now. I am asking for suggestions.

So, be kink, let me know if you are interested, and we will see how it goes.

Thanks for your time.

Sounds cool but I think both names should be put into the "Who Placed the Cache:" box.

On the other hand you could also have your good hide name besmirched.

Yes, that's the first thing I thought of, you could have your good name besmirched. Well, the word "besmirched" didn't exactly pop in my head, but you get the idea.

Oh, I think CCCooperAgency already beat you to this idea like 7 years ago. :(

I won't rain on your parade though, I'm sure you'll get plenty of interest. :P

Trust me when I say, besmirched was not the first word for me either.

Why not set up a cache in another country? Here's what I did:

Our Illinois town has a sister city in Holzgerlingen, Germany.

I attempted to contact several geocachers there who have existing hides.

A couple of them wrote me back in English with a little help from Google Translator.

We set up a dummy account and created two cache pages.

One was my description of Crystal Lake, Illinois, to be posted in Germany.

The other was my new German friend's description of Holzgerlingen to be posted here in Illinois.

Sister City: Crystal Lake

Sister City: Holzgerlingen

Check them out when they both come online later today. It's been fun!

p.s. I'm happy to see I am no longer a tadpole.
