sanramonhunter
Magellan has the new firmware for the eXplorist series on it's website. Now you can get WAAS on your eXplorist without hunting around russian websites. Maybe this whole Mitac buyout will work out well for Magellan users. Quote Link to comment
+Tek_guy and Countrygirl48
Interesting. I wonder if there is a reason to try this since I have already successfully applied the 2.57 european firmware update (which restored WAAS) and retained my North American basemap. Any thoughts? +Ernmark
I'm happy w/ the results of the 2.57 EU firmware (+ the additional screens) - the performance overall seemed to improve. I'm curious as to whether those 'new' screens are part of these new NA upgrades - has anybody taken the leap yet? Quote Link to comment

I went to the secret menu and it now shows Waas satellites which I didn't have before. What kind of problems did you encounter? Quote Link to comment

+geognerd
whats the link to the new update Maggies support page That's the link for the 500/500LE/600. Just so folks know, it appears the 210, 400, and XL also have an equivalent update on their respective Support webpages. I'm curious about what kind of trouble Vagabond had, because I'd hate to have any problems due to this update. Quote Link to comment

+entogeek
Downloaded and installed the European firmware for my North American Explorist XL a few weeks ago (available from Maggies support page) and had WAAS restored. Also got the extra screens which apparently you don't get with the North American update. Be sure to back up your basemap first!!! Quote Link to comment

+geognerd
Anybody else try this eXplorist update? Any problems? Any improved functionality besides the WAAS update (Magellan lists that as the only fix in the new firmware)? Quote Link to comment
+redcoyote12
I just ran the North American update for my 210, and I no longer have all the screens I had. If I remember right, the Europe version of the firmware had a lot more screens, is that correct? How can I get the European version? Other than that, the update seemed to go fine. I am at version 3.1.78 now. Edited February 6, 2009 by redcoyote12 Quote Link to comment
