It appears to be a legitimate peer-to-peer lending site, that was even named one of the best 50 sites on the web by Time Magazine last year. See here You can trust me; click on that link, for real. However, probably some dirtbag on the internet wrote a pop-up that you've been infected with. Link to comment

I attended a min-conference at Google called BarCamp Africa and the general consensus about Kiva was very favorable as a micro-finance source for a variety of initiatives for developing countries.
