I have a 72 it doesn't have any of the bells or whistles . All it has is major cities as dots on it when zoomed way out. I use this for fishing and it works great,But now that I am hooked on this I have to use the 72 for now.

I have been able tofind 12 caches so far and out in the open it works alright. When you are at GZ and trying to really hone in on the spot it will act kind of screwey. It will keep moving but it is not wandering it is trying to catch up with you. This is usually in the 30 foot range. But i have found if you just lay it down in the same direction you were walking and start looking in the area for the cache you will usually find the cash right were you thought it would be before the gps wacked. If you dont find it after a couple min. then goto the gps and it will work just fine and take you right to it now that it has fully caught up with you.

Make sense???

And it seems to loose reception in the thicker woods but it hits and misses enough that I was able to find 2 in some thick woods.

Make sense???

Is this how most gps work.

I do not have the ability to upload the coord. in mine either but i have a system that I like so thats not so bad.

We went out today and found 6 for 6 . So as long as I am finding them is it good enough??

Any input would be appreciated!!

That all sounds normal. You'll get the best reception with the 72 held upright rather than horizontal due to the type of antenna. If your computer has a serial port I'd recommend getting an interface cable. It sure saves on fumble finger mistakes when entering waypoints and is a lot faster.

Can this model do that?? I have had it for long time but I still had the manual and I did not notice were it said it for sure.

It does have a plug in on the back of it but it is not USB it is round a little smaller than dime. In the book I thought it said that was for 12 volt hook up, depthfinder interface and something else I didn't understand???

Anyways if you know more please help!!!!

Thanks

That 4 pin connector is for computer interface as well as the other uses you mention. Here's the cable you need (link) and you may also need a USB to RS232 converter cable (link) if your computer only has USB ports. Those are Garmin links but you can probably find these much cheaper at GPSGeek or other dealers.
